September 2025 Release Notes

This release introduces several key fixes and improvements focused on performance, security, and user experience. We've resolved issues related to email delivery and search indexing while also rolling out significant upgrades to user role management.

• Performance Improvements: We've implemented multiple high-impact fixes to improve performance across FieldSync, and note rendering.
• Security & Roles Update: We've updated security and permissions by adjusting Super Admin privileges and introducing a new dedicated Admin role.

Research and Notes

We've focused on improving how you interact with and manage your research and notes.

• A new feature has been added that allows notes to be opened in a separate, maximized window to make multitasking easier.
• We fixed a bug where certain notes were failing to be sent via email.
• Performance has been improved for notes that contain large tables (RMS-5680).
• The top menu bar no longer disappears when you are adding comments to research.
• An issue was corrected where the 'Tickers' column was not populating in the note list when in table mode.

Search and Filtering

This release includes several enhancements to make searching faster and more accurate.

• Fixed an issue where some PDFs and similar files were not searchable.
• Search accuracy has been improved for short phrases and partial name searches.
• The AND/OR toggle for filtering on fields and properties has been reintroduced.
• Attachments that contain search matches are now correctly highlighted in the search results.
• The 'Has Attachments' filter now works correctly after performing a search.

Rules and Automation

We've added more power and flexibility to the rules engine.

• A new rule action is now available to notify the specific user who made an update.
• A new action has been added to allow you to 'Unshare from specific User Group' as part of a rule.
• You can now sort lists of research within emails that are triggered by rules (e.g., sorting by effective date).
• For clarity, rule conditions that "email notes" have been renamed to "email research".

UI and Experience

We've made several small but impactful changes to improve the overall user experience.

• You can now enable text wrapping on field titles for better readability.
• We've updated date fields to ensure they use a consistent style across the app.
• When using partial text search, the highlighting now correctly applies only to the matched portion of the text instead of the entire block.
• Fixed an issue where conditional icons in the activity widget were not displaying correctly.

User Management and Security

Based on feedback, we have refined user roles and permissions to be more secure and intuitive.

• A new Admin role has been created that can be used to grant privileges to other users.
• The "Super Admin" role has been renamed to "Super Editor".
• To improve security, Super Editors are not automatically granted all other privileges by default.
• We fixed an issue where assistants could incorrectly inherit all permissions when logging in as another user.
